Strengthening

Question
QUESTION: Hi, this question might be a bit unrelated. I was wondering if swimming would help solve my shoulder problem. I injured my shoulders a year ago while lifting weights. Then i saw a doctor, took rest, medicine, physiotherapy and many more. But the pain doesn't totally go away. When i feel like i m healed and try to lift again, i can lift for few days and the pain comes back again. It's not troubling my daily activities but i play cricket so this problem is hampering my performance in cricket. Doctor says that i have some hypermobility in my shoulders n that i have weaker joints. So i heard swimming helps strengthen the joints without putting much stress in the joints. So will swimming regularly help me get back to my normal performance level?

ANSWER: Hello Tanzim,

Though I'm not an expert when it comes to the medical field, I could tell you that from experience, that swimming does improve and help rejuvenate performance. I believe that if you swim, your shoulder may slowly and gradually become stronger again. It would definitely help you in the long run, but I'm not really sure it can get you back to your usual "normal" performance level. That you will have to determine yourself.

Hope this helps!

QUESTION: So, it won't be harmful for me, will it? And if i swim regularly for 3-4 months, will i be able to play cricket regularly again?

Answer
Hello,

It probably will not be harmful for you to swim, just as long as you don't undergo intense workouts. I am unsure if your arm will heal back to its formal state but it should definitely help. You should really check with a doctor for a more detailed analysis.

I hope I helped in any way possible.
