Bass Fishing For The Beginner

2016/7/18 17:10:27

Bass fishing these days is one of the most popular fishing sports practiced today. Its popularity has yielded a multi-billion dollar industry unto itself, aside from the business of other modes of sport fishing. There are boats on the market designed specifically for bass fishing. Clothes and gears are also very popular.

When it comes to a bass habitat, they can be found almost anywhere that there is freshwater. The most popular places to find bass though are in rivers and lakes. Waters that are high in oxygen are the most likely places where you are going to find some hungry bass that are willing to bite.

There are many different types of bass, but when it comes to the most popular that would have to be the largemouth, especially if you are bass fishing in Florida. Largemouth bass can get huge, up to 20 pounds or more so hold on if you hook one.

The yellow and brown bullhead, followed by the channel catfish, is the most abundant in the area. They are favored by sportsman for the delicious table fare that they provide. Also harvested commercially, mainly on Lake Okeechobee, and their tasty fillets are served as an "all you can eat" favorite in most area restaurants. But it is still the bass fish that promises the challenge of the sport.

An angler needs only to arm themselves with a cane pole and a can of worms or crickets for guaranteed success in catching supper. However, most anglers opt for the ultra-light spinning outfits with tiny spinners and spoons, or the fly rod with popping bugs. Catches of fifty or more a day are common.

There are thousands of tactics that have been devised to catch bass, along with many different tackle set ups. If you asked 10 professional bass fishermen what the best set up to catch bass is, they would all give you a different answer. The best way to learn to catch bass is through trial and error.

A good bait for bass, if you are clueless as to what you can use would be a Spinnerbait. Spinnerbaits are widely used by the professional anglers, along with the amateur anglers. Unless you are fly fishing for bass, I would stick with an artificial bait.

Once you catch a bass, they are almost always released. This technique is called catch and release, and was made to conserve the population of different species of fish. Many people do not consider bass to be a fish served on the dinner table, thus catch and release is used on bass in most cases.
