The best tip, anyone can give an angler who is interested in walleye fishing, is to find the perfect spot. If you are fishing for walleye during the spring spawn, you want to be in rivers or close to dams. You want to be in shallow waters, where the walleye are getting ready to spawn.

When you are fishing in the rivers, you want to be casting upstream and allow your bait to float downstream with the current. Walleye will attack something coming at them rather than chase it in the current. If you keep this in mind, you will have a good day of fishing in the spring. When you are fishing during the spawn, you want to use small bait, because the walleye are not very hungry.

Now, if you are fishing in the summer months you going to go into deeper waters. The walleye do not like a lot of light and will go deeper in the water when it is real sunny outside. During the summer, the best days to catch a walleye are when the wind is slight and there clouds hide the sun.

Rainy days are also good for walleye fishing. On these days, the walleye will be in shallow waters near the shoreline. During the summer, you can use a jig in a minnow, bottom bouncer or even a spoon. During the summer months are going to want to use larger bait that will attract the walleye. They are very aggressive eaters during the summer.

If you are fishing for walleye during the fall months, you are going to want to look at the shallower waters. During the fall months are going to use larger minnows to catch the walleye. They are on a feeding frenzy because they are getting ready for the winter months. You can use larger minnows on a jig to get to walleye about this time. The fall months, you will find a walleye will attack just about anything.

With walleye fishing there is a time to jig and a time to rig. Rigging is not used for movement. The basic way to use a rig is to put a sliding sinker on your mainline, connect that to a hook and leader, and then add the night crawler, leech or minnow. This technique is used for sitting in one place. Jigging on the other hand is used for movement. You will take your jig and bait it with a minnow or night crawler. Jigging is more productive that rigging when you are fishing for walleye.

Thinking about spring weather walleye fishing, there are four things you need to have for perfect walleye fishing. You need to have weed growth, wind, cloud cover and a warming trend. These are the perfect conditions for walleye fishing in the spring.

Walleye fishing in the winter, you will need to find an underground rock formation or underwater weeds. The best thing to do in the winter is go walleye fishing when it is cloudy so there is no light shining into the holes. The fish will be in deeper water, but you still do not want any sunshine shining in.
