Rebounding

Question
Hey Bob,
Whenever I get a rebound, I either immediately dribble it out or I will hold it until  I see a teammate to pass the ball to. I do this playing for my city team which I believe is easier than playing for the school. I'm about to start trying out for my school freshman team and I'm concerned about whether I should ever dribble it out once I get the rebound. I'm also concerned about holding it and getting it taken away from me or passing it out to the wrong person when I'm panicking or nervous. It'd be great if you could answer.

Answer
Dear friend,

Your coach will be the one to decide what you should do after a rebound. However, the best option is to protect the ball and pass it to your point guard who should be asking for the ball. Another option is to see if there is a teamate in the fast break and give him a baseball pass, but only if your sure it's not going to be stolen. Rarely does the rebounder(given he is the center or power forward) dribble the ball down the court. It's the job of the guards.

Sincerely Yours,
