Becoming a Football Coach: Education & Requirements
Question
Dear Mr. Mullins
My name is Darrell Tennie. I have been playing football for 7 years including 3 years of varsity. I always thought that my goal in life was to go pro, but I realized that I would make a better coach than player. I have played many positions and I know them well. I enjoy watching film and can study a team all day and know how to beat them come game time. I really enjoy makeing others aroud me better. I am willing to put my all in this opportunity. I would like to know if there are any classes I need or should take?
THANK YOU, Darrell Tennie
Answer
You didn't mention age, I assume you are still young. Go to college, become a teacher, mentor, & coach & specialixe in PE, sports management, or something int the field. There is so much more that "plays". YOU have to know technique, body physiology, coaching psychology, handling players & parents, administration rules, & so much more....Get your education first, then be a mentor for life.....Good luck....Andy
