Question
hi. my name is robert and i am about 5'9, 217lbs. i come rom a high school that doesn't produce many d-1 college football prospects. i am 16 years old and wonder if i could play d-1. i play center and started every game i've played so far. i am a sophmore and started varsity. my friednds are getting letters as sophmores too. also if you think i might continue to grow in height. i bench 225 about6-7 times and max squat about 330. my coaches think im too small to play d-1 or even d-2. could you give me any advice on how to take my game to the next level and become a better undersized d-1 prospect? thanx, Rob.

Answer
Start by meeting w/ your counselor & filling out the NCAA Clearinghouse paperwork....This is required for any upper level ball.  Follow the guidelines.  Don't let a coach keep you from achieving your goals & dreams....Did you know that Michael Jordan himself was cut in high school as a freshman, sophomore, & a junior?  He achieved his goal to play college ball only as a senior.  The rest is history.

Be determined.  Be goal oriented.  Don't let ANYONE tell you that you are not good enough......I can relate story after story after story where I passed on someone whom later ate my lunch that I could have drafted or added to my teams.

Good luck....Keep me informed......

Andy
