the wildcard games

i wanted to know were the wildcard games like the cowboys and Seattle.  I wanted to know if that was a playoff game?

Yes, these actually are playoff games. You see in the 1st round the two best teams from the AFC and the NFC have byes (they don't play in the 1st round). The other four teams in the AFC and NFC have to play each other. The Cowboys were playing the Seahawks (etc..). Thye Seahawks won their division, but since their record (9-7) wasn't as good as 2 other NFC teams, they were forced to play in the first round.
