Old vintage fly rods

Question
Hello Robert:
I getting some fishing gear together and looked over some old fly rods I have acquired over the years.

1-Cooks Samson in cursive writing
2-HI Horrocks-Iberson Beverkill
3-Queen in cursive writing using the old Q which looks like a figure 2
Any chance you can give me some feedback as to time frame of manufacture and values??

Thanks in advance,
Doug

Answer
Doug

Horrocks-Ibbotson was one of the major fishing rod companies from the 20s thru the 50s. They were based out of Utica NY. The Beverkill model is a standard model runs $20 to $40 depending on condition, original bag, etc.

I typically associate Samson with Union Hardware steel rods out of Torrington Conn, but it should be marked Union Hardware in addition to Cooks Samson. $10-20....if its a Union Hardware. These are from the 20s to 50s.

The Queen is probably a trade rod made by Horrocks Ibbotson's or other manufacture for a 3rd party.

regards

Bob
