Rod guides

Question
I fish northern pike with fireline braided line.  After casting (baitcasting rod and real) for a day the green coating on the line is warn off leaving the line a white color.  I'm assuming it is the line guides that is stripping the outer coating off the line. What type of line guides do you recommend to solve this problem or are the line guides the problem?  Any source where I can buy the proper guides would be helpful.  I have made rods before and know how to put on guides.

First thought is, ask the manufactures  of fireline. Is the line defective ?  Is there some maintenance required ?
As to guides, are yours metal ? Are they rusted- take a piece of yarn and run them through the entire circumference of the guide. Does the yarn stick ?  Then they are ripping your line. I have seen mono cut metal, over long time use. I have seen rust happen with  old fly guides. I would recommend ceramic coated guides instead of all metal. You can find then at Janns netcraft or any rod building web site or catalog.
Good luck
Hope this helps because it is way out of the way from bamboo fly fishing rods.
