If you're fishing for catfish, the best time is late spring thru early fall.  Catfish normally arent found close to the bank so youll have to venture out away from it...just cast as far as you can if your on the bank. Catfish most of the tiem are found in deeper water, but sometimes, especially when it rains, they can be caught right under teh surface. But your best bet is to find deep holes of water.
