California Law: Can You Legally Own an Electric Catfish?

It is illegal to own an electric catfish (Malapterurus electricus) in California. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife Fish Species of Concern states these fish are "prohibited to possess, except as authorized by a permit issued by the commission".
