Sawfish Diet: What Do These Unique Sharks Eat?
Sawfish have a long, flattened rostrum that is covered with sharp teeth. They use this to slice through schools of fish, like sardines and anchovies, so they can eat them. They hunt by swinging their saw from side to side, sawing through the water and slicing up their prey. Once incapacitated, the sawfish can easily scoop the incapacitated prey into its mouth. In addition to fish, sawfish are known to feed on crustaceans, molluscs, and even small sharks and rays.
