Identifying Vintage UNICO Japan Bamboo Fly Rods - History & Value
Question
I have a 4 piece (there are two tips) bamboo flyrod. There is a decal near the handle that looks to read, "UNICO Japan". (However the last two letters are far from distinct). I'm not finding any answers on line, hoping you could shed some light on this rod.
Thanks in advance.
Erick
Answer
Erick - After WWII Japanese companies were cranking out rods made of Korean cane by the thousands and exporting them to the United States. These rods are very common, were not good to fish with and today have pretty much no value at all. Sadly yours is one of those rods. Sorry to disappoint you. I hope this helps.
