Hitting driver higher

Question
Hi my name is Kyle and I'm 17. I'm a pretty good golfer, about a 5 handicap. My big struggle for me has always been my driver. I have the Nike Sumo 5000 with a stiff proforce V2 shaft. I am having trouble getting the ball up  on the air and i am also hitting a lot of hooks. I can't seem to figure out the problem. Thanks.

Answer
Hi there, thank you for asking, and apologies for the delay.  Here are some brief tips to get you started just going by what you have stated:

- Tee the ball up higher... those super large faced drivers have a much higher center for the sweetspot... the center of the clubface is NOT the sweetspot.

- Use a slightly weaker grip, which will promote a straighter or fade ball flight which will also let you hit it higher.

- Make sure you are contacting the ball on the upswing.  Or get your swing analyzed.  It seems you are hitting down on the ball and also imparting more spin on the drive.  Remember, the less spin you put on the ball, the better on the driver.
