5113A

Question
Hey Tom! Its Danika.
I have a diver who does a forward dive 1 1/2 twist, and its not on my DD sheet from WIAA. I found a site that has it's DD as 2.2 for 1M. Do you know if this is considered a 'dive' that is competable or is it like a Back 1ss 2twist...and not really a dive.
Thanks!

Answer
Hi Danika -

I have never heard of or seen this dive in question. It may be a dive in some other form of competition like USA Diving or international diving where if the dive number does not appear on a D.D. sheet there is a formula that can be used to determine the D.D. and then it can be used in a meet.It is a dive that can actually be done (like a 5224) but is not recognized by high school diving.High school diving tends to go with more traditional dives for safety reasons. So if it does not appear on the WIAA D.D. sheet (which comes from the national high school sports association (NISCA or the NIF) then you cannot use it in a meet. You can Google NISCA or NIF and see if there is a way you can compete the dive but I think you are better off with your diver using a 5112A or some other twister instead.

Good luck with your season.
