Breaststroke Exercise

Question
What type of exercises should I do to improve my breastroke speed?

Answer
In order to improve your breaststroke technique, try to do drills more often that require leg strength. Doing a lot of kicking with the board is imperative in order to get faster. Breaststroke is a stroke that relies on leg strength, so it is important to train your legs. Exercises that you could possibly do are leg presses or even squats. Doing a few squats a day (try a minimum of 40) can seriously help your leg strength speed. Swimming sets can include drills that only use your feet like "fist" breaststroke (where you swim breaststroke but have your hands clenched into a fist) or just a straight 1000 yard kicking set. Try to set fast time standards for yourself when swimming and you will eventually get faster.

Make sure you have the correct stroke and technique. There are tons of videos out there than can show you the right technique for Breaststroke. But in the end, the real key is to buff up your legs. If you are trying to improve at a faster rate, it is recommended for you to join a club for swimming.

P.S. It is also important to learn the "pull down" when you flip turn
