Question
Hey Max!

I am a certified lifeguard with the Boy Scouts of America.  My proper certification is 'BSA Lifeguard'.   I was wondering how compatible this is with the Red Cross certification.  I need to have it renewed in the new year and was wondering how difficult it is to have it renewed through the Red Cross.  From my understanding....BSA lifeguard is the equivalent to Red Cross lifeguard....

Thanks,
Jake

Answer
Jake,
BCA Lifeguard isn't equivalent to the Red Cross Lifeguard. HOWEVER, you don't have to take the full class. If you challenge the course(just take the written test and pass the physical tasks) you can get certified with the Red Cross. Go to your local chapter's website for more information.
