Question
I'm a Thai Boxer and so require tough and well conditioned shins. I want to start swimming to increase my lung capacity, however I've been told that swimming will soften my bones (shins) due to the flexion with water. Is this true?

Answer
Hi Teeq...

I have never heard that exactly however I did have a stint where I played Basketball during swim season and I felt that I was weaker in the legs.  I honestly don't think that it would do you that much harm especially if you are doing distance type swimming to increase your aerobic capacity.

Thanks!
