Being sored

Question
There are many times when I wanted to get a hard work out but there's a match of some sort the next day.
I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to increase the speed my muscle recovers? Otherwise can you provide me a workout that won't make you feel ripped apart the next morning, yet still keeps you loose?
I've seem boxers taking ice baths... what does that do...

On the side note, i'm getting the hang of head-inside low single. I usually pops it up if the guy spraws, treetop if the guy stays there, or switch to a normal single if he's really good at defending. Is there any special set up or finishes you can enlight me of?
My set up is touch and go... getting repetitive and can't close the distance enough at times.

Thank you very much

Answer
you gotta do what makes you feel good, that's different for everyone.  ice baths, really cold ones, force the blood from the muscles and with it, the lactic acid(which makes your muscles hurt and weaken) goes with it. so it does help, but i wouldn't suggest doing it everyday, maybe 2 a week at most.

a low single is a good shot and if you can finish its even better.  but not knowing exactly what you're doing, i think it would be more confusing to try and explain it to you without being able to see it.
