Finding Competitive Wrestling Opportunities After High School
Question
I wrestled in HS and LOVED it. It's a true die hard sport, and I've been doing Martial Arts for about 3 years now. Though I really really want to find an avenue to continue wrestling (not Pro WWE BS), are there schools that I can go this route with? Outside of Brazilian Ju Jitsu? I don't want to be an Olympian or anything, just want to competitively grapple with out going BJJ (which I can still out wrestle most of the BJJ guys I meet). HELP lol.
Answer
i would say the best route is to look in the phone book near your area. That would be your best option and I am sure you can still compete in some tournaments anyway. Just ask your High School coach for a place to look for those tournaments. A college would have amateur wrestling for sure so that would also be your best bet. Your options are limited since you don't want to be an Olympian. Just searching around the phone book and I am sure you'll find something. Or go online and search through the yellow pages. I found many hits for the area i am in. Good luck.
