Argghh I hate Big People.....

Question
Hey, I am a junior becoming a senior next school year, and I am thinking of starting wrestling my senior year. I have like 4 months of training in the jiu jitsu style. So have kind of have the wrestling concept, because I have even wrestled people that wrestle at my school. My problem is that when wrestling larger people, it's hard for me to take them down, like for one I can't lift them all that well, and I am kind of trapped when I go for a double leg and the sprawl out on top of me where I am  kind of stuck. I am a 16 year old, 5'10, and about 160-170 pounds. I do about 200 bench, 215 powercleans, and 285-300 on squats. Is it cause I am not strong enough or not proper technique. Also with that question, I would like to know nice ways to loose weight, or at least burn alot more fat than muscle. Your help would be so greatly appreciated.

Answer
Hey,

Well first thing of wrestling is that you won't have to wrestle huge people. Weight classes just won't let you wrestle someone 200 pounds. I would assume that the reason you can't wrestle them is the technique. I am a 121 pounder and we light weights know that technique has alot to do and once you get your technique down you won't have much trouble. Of course thats not all you need but it's definitly a start. Since you seem to be strong enough i would work on technique. Loosing weight is easy, just eat 500 calories a meal and 3 meals a day. This would be like salads but not too much salad dressing and other things. That and working out helps alot. I use to loose 5 pounds after practice so working out is effective. Also, water has weight in it no matter what people say. .2 pounds for every sip of water you take and yes i weighed myself and proved it so before weigh ins, not too much water. If you have any other questions just email me again. Oh and don't expect to win a shit load of matches because the upper weights get really hard. fyi.
