Taking care of your salt water pool is essential to keep it hygienic and acceptable to swimming standards. Let us know more about the same by reading this article.

The popularity of salt water pools have increased by leaps and bounds in the recent years. Nevertheless, these pools have different sets of issues than freshwater swimming pools. Hence, proper and timely maintenance of a salt water pool is essential to keep it clean.

Maintenance Guide
Salt water pools are the swimming areas where we use salt water instead of chlorinated freshwater. Management of such a pool is almost similar to the management of freshwater pool. You have to be aware about the capacity of the pool so that you are able to put suitable amount of salt in it to make it acceptable or comfortable for swimming. In case the level of salt drops in the pool, a situation may arise in which the chlorine stops producing. This can trigger the growth of bacteria in the swimming pool area. Hence, it's absolutely necessary to check the pool on a regular basis. Another reason to check the pool is to see if the salt is at the right level.

Basically, the most important tip that has to be followed without fail is that the salt to water ratio must be appropriate. The salt to water ratio can be anywhere between 2500 and 3000 ppm. Generally, pool care takers make a big mistake by going below this value. The aforementioned ratio ensures that one can barely taste the salt in water. If the ratio is more than this, then certainly it's not ideal for a salt water pool. In case, you are skeptical about the taste of water in the pool, install a salt testing kit in your pool. Installing saltwater indicator is also good as it gives you information about salt level in the pool. In case, the salt level increases, you can balance the chlorine levels in the pools by discharging more chlorine into the pool by turning on the knob of the controls. This will ensure that the pool is balanced.

Most of the problems in the salt water pool arise due to improper handling of the pool. Proper maintenance from the side of the pool care taker is essential to prevent some problems. If people coming to swim in the pool complain of symptoms of skin irritation, high-chlorine smell, etc., one should check the chlorine levels in the pool. The presence of strong chlorine levels indicate that it needs to be balanced with that of salt. Regular checking of pH of the pool is essential to eliminate the problems of poor reading. Purchase a pH testing kit from the local shop and use it frequently to measure the pH of the pool.

Even though the maintenance of salt water pool maintenance requires less chemicals than freshwater pools, they are certainly more technical when it comes to adjusting the proper level of salt and water in the pool. The maintenance cost is generally not very high and most of the equipment required are a one time investment as they work for years.
