Should Infants And Toddlers Wear Goggles When They’re Learning To Swim?

2016/7/21 15:22:35

Summer is the most frequent time when youngsters learn to swim.
When parents and children are considering swimming lessons, a key question
is always whether your child should wear goggles when he or she is learning to swim.

Goggles are not needed for children when they’re learning to swim, Brett Callan, facilities manager at Murray Callan Swim School in Carlsbad/San Marcos says.

Why?

The biggest reason why goggles aren’t needed is simple, Callan said.
Should a child accidentally fall in a pool, he or she probably won’t be wearing goggles. We don’t want them to rely on goggles as something they need in order to swim successfully and efficiently, when in fact, they don’t. Much like flotation devices, goggles create a crutch’ that kids won’t have when faced with impromptu survival.
By learning to swim in our professional setting, we give kids the ability to overcome situations they may encounter in an emergency.

Swimming is a complete cardiovascular exercise. The essential benefits getting from swimming cannot be taken lightly. It is also a relaxing exercise and enjoyable one for kids. Carlsbad Swim School offers Swimming Classes for Kids. Equipping kids to survive in pools, ocean or even the situation of floods is necessary to all.
Murray Callan Swim School has a pioneering program that offers Swimming Classes for Toddlers founded by Murray Callan, a United States Swim School Association Hall of Fame Member. Our swimming classes for kids start from the age group of three months old baby to an adult. This individualized program allocating three students per instruction for giving individual attention to each student. Our teaching method of instructing one to one on rotating basis enables the students to progress at their own pace.
The pools have lot of shallow water and are specifically designed for teaching swimming especially considered the safety of kids and the pool is only used for conducting baby swimming classes. The structure of the pool has broad, shallow steps and only few inches in depth so that any age of student can ensure their own security level by touching their feet at the bottom.
This program’s mission is to teach the children on how to swim and advise the parents to develop the additional skills for the children that benefit the young swimmers. At the beginning of the program, kids are not allowed to swim elsewhere during the first few series. After completing necessary series of lessons and coaching then only the kids are allowed to swim alone.
If children have experience trepidation should steer clear of other experiences of swimming that other students has. If they are allowed to swim in another place, with their known people, they will feel that they have to swim with a stranger at their lessons. This attitude will change eventually, but during the start up stage, consistency is crucial. Therefore, it is critical that within that period the only swimming is done at Murray Callan Swim School.

Murray Callan Swim Schools have been teaching to swim the Hall of Fame’ way for three generations. Founder Murray Callan was elected to the USSSA Hall of Fame for his decades of service in teaching children to swim in a natural, efficient and enjoyable way.
