2016/7/21 15:23:23

For owners of above ground swimming pools, one of the choices in accessories that they're going to have to make, is what type of pool cover to get. Now on the surface this may seem like a simple choice but in reality it's not. This is because there are several types of pool covers available, with each one serving its own special purpose.

Why a Mesh Cover?

So what about a mesh pool cover? For most people their first reaction to the concept of a cover that is made entirely of fine mesh, is whats the point? After all, isn't the purpose of installing a pool cover in the first place to keep everything out.

Leaves + Rain Equals a Mess

The simple answer to that is of course it is, but sometimes pool covers can simply do too good a job. Add some rain into the equation and things can become a real problem. You see, nothing has changed when it comes to removing a pool cover. It still can be a very messy manual job.

Definitely Not a Glamorous Job

So picture a standard pool cover that's filled to the brim with a hundred gallons or so of fetid water and fermenting leaves. With water weighing in at just over 7 pounds per gallon, thats a little over 700 pounds of stinky gooey crud that you have to somehow lift out and dispose of.

A Definite Must for High Rain High Leaf Yards

So now you may be seeing the benefit of a mesh pool cover that holds all the leaves but allows any rain water to pass though into your pool. In high rain climates and high leaf yards this type of pool cover is a life saver. So what about the minor amount of mostly particulate debris that passes through.

Skimmer Screens for Above Ground Pools

As it turns out that what they make a pool Skimmer screen for. So yes in above ground pools that have mesh covers there will be some occasional screen work to do. However in the balance this clean and straightforward task is a cinch compared to having to deal with a huge mass of rotten goop sitting on top of your pool.
