Submerge Your Heart Problems

Swimming is one of the best ways to exercise, it is a fact. Aside from the only sport that allows you to travel as far as you want in a three dimensional plane, it is also the only exercise where you get to submerge yourself completely in water.

There is a feeling of freedom that you get from swimming. I think man evolved from fish, otherwise why would we feel so comfortable in water?

It isn't like we feel comfortable when we are jumping branch to branch, tree to tree, out in the amazon. Actually I have never done that, so I don't know how comfortable I would be.

Freedom is a great feeling, but some people feel trapped by their heart or lungs. Respiratory and cardio problems can affect physical activity more than any other ailment.

So they are certainly easy to sympathize with. If you can't breathe how can you do anything?

Same goes for your heart; if you don't have a heart you would just be a rusty old tin man, and probably dead. Studies have shown that the best way to improve cardio and respiratory health is by swimming.

Above jogging and biking even. You think that because all that water requires you to hold your breath all the time you would have some serious respiratory issues, but that is not the case.

Actually holding your breath and controlling your breathing helps to strengthen your respiratory system. Swimming goes beyond that.

This is a sport of synchronization. To effectively and gracefully move through the water you have got to get your entire body to work at once.

This can be difficult for many people, especially ADD. This requires you to focus and use multiple muscles in congruence with each other.

That doesn't sound so hard, but if you have an attention span shorter than a McDonald's commercial than it can actually be quite a challenge. However, if you made it this far through my article I would presume you are extremely board, extremely sick, and have an extremely good amount of concentration.

When you are using your muscle all together and training your breathing with that, you are going to be inadvertently training your heart. When we exert ourselves our heart starts pumping faster and we start breathing harder so our muscles can get more oxygen.

When we swim we are actually training our lungs and hearts to work more effectively. The best thing to do, if you do have a cardio or respiratory issue, would be to swim along with jogging and biking.

They each will strengthen your cardio and lungs in different ways. Swimming more so than the others, but it is good to keep exercises well rounded.
