Do you recall the days when swimming accessories meant having a bathing suit and towel? Like everything else these days, swimming isn't quite that simple any more. Instead, of stopping at the local watering hole to cool off in the middle of the afternoon, people are now spending whole days and even entire vacations at the beach.

As people began spending more time at the beach or pool, they discovered that a few extra swimming accessories would make a day of swimming more fun. Many women found swim caps that kept their hair dry for the evening out allowed them to spend more time in the water and less time getting ready for dinner.

Pretty soon swimming accessories included nose clips, and ear plugs, and even goggles to keep the eyes protected when swimming under water. While all these things made swimming easier and a little more fun, people were still actually swimming for entertainment. Children especially got bored with simply swimming back and forth and wanted something more fun to do in the water.

In an effort to keep the kids occupied for the whole day at the beach, swimming accessories grew to include swimming noodles, tubes, mattresses and rafts. Then came the kick board and those blow up arm bands for the smallest of children to enjoy in the water. Beach balls too became lighter and became a swimming accessory as people took them to the water to toss and to engage in games such as water polo and diver dodge ball.

Soon manufactures began offering adults floating lounge chairs complete with drink holders. That way they could enjoy all the fun of swimming without actually, well swimming.

Life was good and a day at the beach now was not only swimming, but actual playtime in the water. Colored floating objects dot the surface as kids playing on the various toys that make a day at the beach more fun. Soon swim fins and small cheap snorkels came to be added to the list of swimming accessories and children began exploring what was just under the waters surface.

However, swimming is not only just for fun anymore. Many people are finding that a trip to the local pool provides them with great low impact exercise and so more and more people have started visiting pools to get their daily workouts. However, it didn't take long for these people to learn that swimming laps back and forth might be good for the body but it was actually quite boring.

They needed something to take their mind off the tediousness of swimming back and forth and these people found that water proof MP 3 Players made the perfect swimming accessory while exercising. Now they could listen to their favorite music while they swam.

Of course the only swimming accessories you really need is your swimsuit and towel but with all the wonderful additions out there anyone can enjoy a fun filled day at the beach or a good work out in the pool while still being entertained and amused.
