Water (水 Shuǐ) in Chinese culture is one of the five elements (五行 Wǔ xíng) that are seen as the essence of everything around us. The other four elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, and Metal. Chinese believe that these elements and their relationships interact in an ordered pattern to shape all natural phenomena and all of human life.
