Best Sunscreens for Fiberglass Pools: Prevent Staining & Damage

Sunscreens that contain titanium dioxide or zinc oxide are best to use in fiberglass pools. These ingredients are less likely to cause staining or damage to the pool surface. Sunscreens that contain oxybenzone or octinoxate should be avoided, as they can cause the pool water to become cloudy or discolored.

When applying sunscreen to yourself or others before swimming in a fiberglass pool, be sure to do so well in advance of entering the water. This will allow the sunscreen to fully absorb into the skin and reduce the chance of it washing off in the pool.
