Pool Winterization & Maintenance: Protecting Your Investment

When a swimming pool is not in use, there are several maintenance steps you can take to keep it in good condition and prevent damage:

1. Winterization for Cold Climates:

- Drain the pool water to a level below the skimmer and return lines to prevent freezing and damage to pipes.

- Plug all return lines and skimmer openings to prevent water from re-entering the pool.

- Add a winterizing chemical to prevent algae and bacteria growth.

2. Cover the Pool:

- Use a pool cover to protect it from the elements, such as rain, snow, leaves, and debris.

- Ensure the cover is securely fastened to prevent it from being blown off by wind.

3. Maintain the Pool Equipment:

- Turn off the pool pump and filter system.

- Disconnect and store hoses and other equipment in a dry location.

- Drain and clean the pool pump and filter housing.

- Inspect and replace any worn or damaged parts.

4. Monitor Water Chemistry:
