Swimming After Hair Dye: How Long to Wait & Protect Your Color

You should wait at least 24-48 hours before swimming in a pool after dyeing your hair. This will give the dye time to set and prevent the pool water from washing it out. If you swim too soon, the chlorine in the pool water can strip the dye from your hair and leave it looking brassy or faded.

Here are some additional tips for swimming in a pool with dyed hair:

* Wear a swimming cap to protect your hair from the sun and chlorine.

* Rinse your hair with fresh water before and after swimming.

* Use a leave-in conditioner to help protect your hair from the drying effects of chlorine.

* Avoid using hot tools on your hair after swimming, as this can further damage it.

* If your hair is damaged from swimming, you may need to get it professionally repaired.
