Swimming After a Nose Piercing: Healing Time & Pool Safety

You should wait at least 4-6 weeks(one month) after getting your nose pierced before swimming in a pool. Swimming in a pool before your piercing has fully healed can increase your risk of infection. While you may believe that swimming for less than an hour every weekday would be okay, it's important to remember that any exposure to chlorinated water can irritate your piercing and delay the healing process.

During the first month, your piercing is the most susceptible to infection as it is still an open wound. Swimming in a pool filled with chemicals and potentially harmful bacteria can introduce these contaminants into your piercing site and cause complications such as swelling, redness, and discharge.

To ensure proper healing and minimize the risk of infection, it's crucial to follow the aftercare instructions provided by your piercer and refrain from swimming in a pool until the piercing has fully healed.
