How should I prepare for JV football?

Question
I'm 14 right now, almost 15, a freshman in HS.  I'm going to do JV football next year.  I'm not too big (5'8" 135), but I think I have good speed (I did track this spring).  I'm thinking about going out for a DB spot, probably safety.  How should I prepare?  Thanks.

Answer
Eric, I think that running track was a good idea, for you.  Track will help you a great deal over the coming years with your overall speed and endurance.
To get ready for the season I would suggest that you just need to talk with the coaches and see what they want you to work on over the summer.  Also make sure to make all summer practices.  This will show the coaches that you a serious about starting next season.  GOOD LUCK COACH NOEL!!
