QUESTION: I am 16 years old and a junior in high school. I am 5'9" and 165lbs. i am an offensive linemen and linebacker on my schools varsity team. the only thing is that i want to become a running back, i am way to small to play o-line, and i have the speed to be a running back. i need help to improve my balance and agility and i would also like to lose 15 pounds. if i accomplish those goals i will be a force in the backfield, but how can i do it?

ANSWER: Ben,

The answer is hard work. Watch your diet and get some good workouts in. Let your coach know you are interested in playing running back and get his input on the situation.

Good luck.

QUESTION: Are there any diets or workout plans that you would recommend?

Answer
Ben,

I am a big advocate of eating a healthy balanced diet with a good amount of protien and working hard with the weights. You should speak with your coach about the lifting part as your school most likely has a weight program already.

As for the foods, try to stay away from processed and fast foods and drink water. I would suggest that you cut soda out of your diet as much as possible.

Good luck.
