Wright & Mc Gill Fishing Rod

Question
Hello! My question is that i just bought a Wright & Mc Gill bamboo fishing pole with a aluminum tube attached with a twisted lid and small link chain. On the pole reads,6 1/2 ft. 4TMS. Very good condition set that i bought for $10.00 at a yard sale. My boys like it alot. My curiosity, How old do you think this pole is?

Answer
George,

Does your rod have a name on it? (Granger, Victory, Special, etc).

Wright & Mcgill dates to the 1920s, Wright & Mcgill purchased the Goodwin Granger rod company in 1946. The rods were first marked Wright & Mcgill Granger rods. In early 1950s the word "Wright & Mcgill" was written toward the handle (Mcgill is closer to the handle then Wright). By 1954 bamboo rods were special order only, available thru roughly 1960.

Its value is dependent on condition, if both tips are intact, the cloth bag and aluminum tube.

regards,

Bob
