Hardy Cane Rod Serial Number Lookup & Value Guide - 1954

Question
What is the date of a hardy cane rod serial number E94955 and how much would it be worth? It has 2 sections with bag and is about 7ft

Answer
Steve,
My database says 1954. It was on a Hardy and Greys website and I bought one on ebay that confirmed it. I have no books with Hardy information. I belive in the books allot more.

Hardy is not in :
Bamboo Rod Restoration Handbook by Michael Sinclair nor in the price book,
Antique & Collectible  Fishing Rods: Identification & Value Guide Homel, Dan. 1997 (2nd edition 2000) add about 30% for age of book.

But Classic & Antique Fly-Fishing Tackle: A Guide for Collectors & Anglers by A.J. Campbell has several pages on Hardy.

Worth ? Is it a fly rod , then it is worth looking into. So where is the reel , above or below the handle. Fly rod reels are below the handle. If you want more please look at the information I need to help you ,on my all experts profile:

Hardy is still in business in Alnwick, England - on the web:

One problem is you're asking a western US guy about an English made rod.

Luck,
Mac
