Garcia Conolon 2405 B Fly Rod Line Weight & Preservation

I have a Garcia Conolon 2405 B 8 1/2' Dry Fly Action fly rod with the letters C HCF 7F 8S.  I believe it is about 40 years old.  Can you tell me what weight fly line to use with this rod or should I be preserving it?

Hi Bob,

The decoding is:

C = 7wt level line
HCF = 7wt Weight Forward line

I would use a modern 7wt line on the rod.  It should not be a problem to use this rod.  Check it over good to make sure there are no damaged areas.  Assuming not, use it...it will work fine.
