Champion Bamboo Rod

Question
I just found a bamboo rod at my Grandmother's house.  I was doing some laundry and looking up at the unfinished ceiling in the rafters was this rod.  I wanted to get some history on it.  It has a label with the words "Fishing Rod" at the top of the label and the word "Champion" over a gold cup in the middle and at the bottom of the label is the word "JAPAN".   The rod has four pieces and two are rod tips. It looks like you could use the rod as regular fishing rod which is about 5'5".  The skinny tip you would use as a fly rod at about 9'.   It does not look like it is a good quality rod based on thread wrapping and the finish that is applied to the rod.

Thanks Tim

Answer
Tim,
It appears to be Japanese rod.
I don't know how old you are but when I was a kid in the 50s Japanese made trinkets to survive . Made in Japan was synonymous with junk. Originally sold by the thousands to GIs in a light long box with lures and huge flies . Mostly consider trinkets by collectors but memorial to GIs , they have little resale or fishing value. I have some small History of Japanese rods:

This rod usually switches from fly to casting rod.
