Kennedy Bros. Rods: History, Identification & Value

Question
I saw your answer regarding a 1950's vintage Kennedy's Bros. rod.  I also hve one from my grandfather, a Kennedy's 750.  I suspect it is of a later vintage, as the reel seat is a reddish aluminum.  Can't be later than the 70's though.  Could it be Japanese or is it some other maker.  Thanks. very much.

Andy

Answer
Hi Andrew,

Kennedy Brothers did not make rods; they sold rods made by other companies and labeled as Kennedy Bros.  If your rod is bamboo, it is probably an earlier rod and was likely made by Heddon.  If it is fiberglass, it could have been made in the 1950s-19070s era and could have been made by any of several manufacturers.  It could also be Japanese, but not as likely as it being made by another USA firm.

Send me a picture at joe@blackdogtackle.com and I'll take a look.

Thanks,  joe
