golf shaft difference

Question
Hi Jim.

I was recently on Mizuno's "Shaft Optimizer". The results show that I was consistently at their numbers of 77, 78, 79. I was fitted with a Project X 5.0 shaft and the numbers on the simulater told me I was hitting a 6 iron around 165 -175 yards, a little left, however it did not determine the launch angle or trajectory. After reading about the Project X shaft i am hesitant that this shaft is right for me without seeing the ballflight in the "real world".
Also  I like the look of the Cobra s2 forged club, do you know if thier Nippon shaft would be equivalent to the Project X 5.0?
I am currently playing Mizuno Comp EZ irons with a Dynalite R300 shaft. I have had these irons for about 15 years and have tried numerous sets but still come back to them but feel I maybe missing out on the new technology. My swing speed is about 97 mph with the driver and I generally score in the high 70's to low 80's.
I am using a Callaway F3 driver with Aldila stiff shaft 9.5 loft and cannot seem to hit it, or any other driver, more than 237 yards.

Thanks for your time and input.

Ian.

Answer
Ian,
I am still finding out about the optimizer. From what I know the shaft selection is based on a better players preference. That being a dynamic golf or Project X or KBS tour. Which are all great shafts that lean towards a lower ball flight.

The Nippon shaft is a light weight shaft that tends to promote a higher ball flight.

If you are anything than a low handicapper I would consider the Nippon's first.
