inner ear infection

Question
I am 69 years old and for the last three months, have been swimming 3 times a week for aprox 1 hour each session.I have just been diagnosed with inner ear infection which makes me go very dizzy Iam tking tablets Is it ok to still swim

Answer
Hello Richard!
My opinion would be to take some time off from swimming or use ear plugs. Whenever a swimmer develops swimmer's ear (a condition resulting in an inner ear infection as fell) our coaches as well as our doctor's always suggest a few days out of the water and ear plugs for at least a week or two after diagnoses. I hope that this helps and good luck!
