Question
Hi, I'm 18 and I'll be swimming at Denison next year. I've always been a slacker when it comes to the weight room and prefer to spend my time in the pool. What kind of exercises would you suggest I do in the weight room?

Answer
Robert--
Given that swimming involves virtually all muscle groups, you need to make sure that you are working all of them.  Especially concentrate on agonist/antagonist groups, ie, bicep/tricep, lats,traps,delts/pecs, quadriceps/hamstrings, etc.  Make sure you do complete motion exercises and stretch before and after to maintain the flexibility in your joints.  You want long, lean muscles not short bulky muscles.
Hope this helps, let me know if I can help more,
George
