Swimming dive

Question
Dear George,
I'm from Brazil and I'm doing a school project about the swimming dive before you go into the pool, I would like to know if you have some tips, some techniques that you can share for my project.

thank you
Marina

Answer
Marina--
The best tip I can give is, when the swimmer leaves the starting block he should leave at about a 45 degree angle.  This gives him a good angle to enter the water at the same angle of entry.  The swimmer wants to enter the water through the same hole made with the hands, if this happens you can see a definite acceleration as the swimmer goes through the water.  He also needs to aim for the best streamline position possible, hands together, head tucked a little and legs straight and together.
I hope this helps
George
