Question
Hi- my name is Meighan and I am 15 years old. I recently developed burcitus in both of my shoulders due to an impingement and have taken 2 years of swimming off- I'd like to know if you have any tips on how to swim competitively again without over exerting myself... any practice tips, etc. if you have any ideas thatd be great! thanks

Answer
Meighan-
I'm sorry to say this, but the only way to get fast again is through hard work.  But you can still train to get there.  Your bursitis might have been caused by some incorrect stroke mechanics.  Have a coach watch your stroke it may just be a matter of you over extending your reach at the front of your stroke, which causes you to lay on your arms.  Try shortening your stroke in front just a little bit.
Hope this helps.
