A swimming pool chlorinator is a device that stores chlorine tablets or stick and allows water to pass over them using your filter system. It dissolves the tablets and allows the chlorinated water to dispense into your swimming pool

1. Your Skimmer - Because this is built into every pool it tends to be the most common way for chlorine to be dispensed into your swimming pool. All you need to do is place chlorine tablets into the skimmer basket and allow the pump to let the water pass over the tablets and dissolve them.

2. The In-Line Chlorinator - is a unit that stands alone like your filter. You add it to your filter system plumbing right before the water flows back into the pool. You can fill up this chlorinator with a lot of chlorine so it lasts a long time.

3. The Off-Line Chlorinator - this device is exactly the same as the in-line version except instead of plumbing it to your filter system with a large hose, it uses a thin tube and doesn't interfere with the water flow.

4. Floater - a unit that houses chlorine tablets or stick and floats around your pool slowly releasing the dissolved chlorine.

We I Recommended A great method of good chlorination is the basic skimmer method. Although the chlorinating method could cause long-term corrosion in your filter system, but otherwise a very effective method.

The off-line and in-line chlorinators are great because they are both stand alone chlorinators and do not push chlorine through your filter system. They also allow your to put a lot of chlorine in them, so you can fill them up and not think about it for 2 weeks or even a month.

The only thing we don't recommend is chlorine floaters. Because floaters are in your swimming area and if they get hung up on the pool liner or possibly behind a ladder it could stain the sides of your pool. Plus it dissolves much slower because there is no rushing water to help them.
