Replace Your Pool Pop-Up Head: A Step-by-Step Guide

Tools and materials:

1. New pop-up head

2. Screwdriver

3. Pipe wrench

4. Channel locks

5. Teflon tape

6. Pliers

7. Pool water

Instructions:

1. Turn off the pool pump and allow the water to settle.

2. Locate the pop-up head that needs to be replaced.

3. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the pop-up head in place.

4. Use the pipe wrench to loosen the coupling that connects the pop-up head to the pipe.

5. Use the Channel Lock Pliers to pull the pop-up head straight up from the pool deck.

6. Apply Teflon tape to the threads of the new pop-up head.

7. Carefully screw the new pop-up head onto the pipe, connecting it in the same fashion that the old head had been.

8. Use the Channel Lock Pliers to hold the pop-up head in place and continue to screw it in until the threads are snug.

9. Replace the screws that hold the pop-up head in place.

10. Turn the pool pump back on and allow the water to circulate for several minutes.

11. Check for leaks around the new pop-up head. If you see any leaks, tighten the screws or coupling until the leak stops.

Tips:

- When removing the old pop-up head, be careful not to drop it into the pool. If you do drop it, you will need to retrieve it before you can install the new one.

- When installing the new pop-up head, take care not to over-tighten the screws or coupling. This could damage the pop-up head or the pipe.

- If you are having difficulty installing the new pop-up head, you may need to hire a qualified pool contractor to help you.
