Cloudy Pool Water: Understanding Alkalinity and Its Role

Alkalinity helps stabilize pH levels and prevents pH from dropping too low, which can cause cloudy water. Low alkalinity can also corrode pool equipment and surfaces. The ideal alkalinity range for swimming pools is between 80 and 120 ppm. If alkalinity is too low, it can be raised by adding sodium bicarbonate or potassium bicarbonate.
