Question
QUESTION: Hello how are you? Just wanted to get your thoughts on if I would be or could get into the kind of shape needed to play football again. right now I'm 22 years old 6'2 280 working my way back down from 300 when I was in college. My experience level is high school were I came in as a freshman at 220 and my shuttle time was a 3.9 and I played for 2 years as a LE but quit to focus on school and had problems with the head coach. When I got to FAMU I was 300 and in decent shape from playing rec. sports and basketball to stay active but didn't have a chance to play on the team because of school but my 40 time at that weight was 4.85 and that was 3 years ago. Now I'm working out some to lose weight and have thoughts of playing football again either in the UFL or for the football team a town over from me so I can get back into the feel for the game. So my question is one do you think the UFL or a small league is a good goal to start with and what would be a workout routine to have so I can be ready to play next year around this time; and also some added information about my position experience, my main position was at LE but also played or practiced at DT TE and MLB.

QUESTION: Thank you much for the links they do give me some incite on some good drills to mimic and another question would be is the 4.85 40 time and the 3.9 shuttle that I ran good times to have or start out at, I still run those but not sure about my 40 right now after the weight drop to 280 recently,  and is wanting to play for the local league or the UFL Florida team a realistic goal?

Answer
Dear Harry,
Anything is possible. The sky is the limit if you really want something bad enough. Look at Kurt Warner, he was stocking shelves at a grocery store for $5.50 an hour. A few years later, he is ranked among the NFL's top quarterbacks of all-time. He won the NFL MVP award, Super Bowl XXXIV, and he was never drafted by any NFL team. Like I said anything can happen.

Good luck and let me know if you need anymore help.
