Walton Bamboo fly rod

Question
My father had a 9' 3 pc, 2 tips, split cane bamboo rod that he said he bought in '38 or '39.  The only writing on the rod is "Walton".  The tag on the rod sock(olive green)is mostly missing, but the word- (FRESH W) is still visible and below that is- (No. W).  We lived in Northern Calif most of our life and thought is a "Walton Powell" rod, but have been told otherwise by someone who looked at it.  The rod was refinished by Kiene's fly shop in Sacramento by in the early 90's.  it has a black plastic reel seat.  Any info you could provide on this would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Bob Gerald

Answer
Hi Bob.  Given the date ('38 or '39) I doubt very much that it is a Walton Powell rod.  It could be from Walt's time working for his father EC Powell.  But to tell you anything I would need to see some good photos of the rod.  Posting photos here is a pain.  Please email me at [email protected] with some detailed photos and I can see what I think. Thanks,
Rich
