Swimming Faster

2016/7/15 11:59:33

Question
I want to know how to swim faster. I can swim 25 yards in 18 seconds. I need to reach a speed of 50 yards in under 30 seconds. No matter how fast and how hard i try i still do not go faster. Is there a way to make me go faster?

Answer
What kind of training do you do, and who do you train with?
I don't know anyone who swims under 30 seconds who doesn't train regularly with a good group of swimmers. To go under 30 you need to go 13 seconds on a 25. That would put you at the wall with a flip at 14 seconds, and back in 15.
You need to find a good training group and a coach, work a lot on your kick (to go under 30 swimming you need to be able to do a 50 kick with a kickboard under 45 seconds, at a minimum. Keep track on your stroke count too. When swimming try to take 16 strokes per 25 yards, or less. Your stroke count will be a little higher when you are going full speed.

good luck
