Fuel in water tank

Question
After 6 years of owning a boat I finaly made the mistake of pumping gasoline into my water holding tank! I had just filled the water tank, so very little gas made it in....probably less than a quart into an 8 gallon tank. My question is what to do. I believe gas will float on top of water, so Im not sure if i should flush the tank through, or try to syphon it out.
Thanks

Answer
Hi Larry...Thanks for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

Best you completely drain, flush, and wash out the fresh water holding to rid yourself of any residual fuel that made contact with all 4 sides of the tank.
